Post Pill Syndrome - What should you consider when stopping the pill?
The first symptoms appear approximately 3-5 months after stopping the contraceptive pill.
Symptoms after discontinuation:
- acne
- PMS
- hair loss
- absence of period, irregular cycle
- Depression / mood swings
- thyroid problems
- intestinal problems
What can you do now, or preferably immediately when you stop taking the pill, to alleviate the symptoms and support your body.
How the body can be supported:
- diet (plant-based diet)
- Movement
- Sufficient sleep
- stress reduction
- Take probiotics daily to strengthen the intestinal flora
- Food supplements to replenish reserves.
liver support
The liver wants to excrete the excess synthetic hormones. After stopping taking the pill, these hormones (estrogen) are missing. In addition, the pill deprives the liver of important nutrients, which leads to a nutrient deficiency.
- Foods rich in inulin: artichokes, salsify, cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, Brussels sprouts, kale)
- Unsaturated fatty acids: vegetable oils, nuts
- liver wraps
- Drink enough
- Little alcohol
- no refined sugar
support adrenal glands
The adrenal glands are on standby while taking the pill.
When you stop taking it, a rebound effect occurs. Now an above-average amount of androgens is produced, resulting in an excess of testosterone, which results in hair loss, increased body hair, and acne.
- Consume long-chain carbohydrates (flat insulin secretion curve) Cortisol is secreted less (less stress)
thyroid support
The pill can lead to hypothyroidism (tired, cold, listless).
- Selenium and iodine are important nutrient elements for a healthy and functioning thyroid
- Nuts, whole grain products and legumes help to meet the needs
Be consistent with the implementation because your body needs time to adjust again.
